This does it Awang Selamat, bring it on.
He begins with a question of whether the Malays were betrayed by the Indians and Chinese.
He goes on to point that in 1957 the Chinese and Indians (some of whom could not converse in Bahasa) were given citizenship, and he then asks which other country would give this kind of treatment to a ‘pendatang’ (derogatory term to describe foreigner).
Then he gives examples of Ceylon and Burma, where the Chinese and Indians were chased out rather than given citizenship.
He ends with a question of “Di manakah anda boleh mendapat layanan politik yang baik untuk kaum pendatang?”
Which translates to, “Where would you get such good treatment for a foreign race?“
How many Malays have died in police lockups in Singapore? Think about that before you bring up this bullshit about Malays being marginalized in Singapore.
Of course Awang, will say, Chinese are foreigners in Singapore as well, so their treatment of other foreigners are not an indication of anything. Partly true, though the bigotry of such questioning cannot be ignored. These ‘foreigners’ are some time 2nd and 3rd Generation, at what point do we stop calling them foreigners? Some are as much as 7th Generation…….really dumb struck.
Let’s look at America. Where they elected President Barack Obama to be President, and let me clearer…President Barack HUSSEIN Obama. A black man, whose father was born in Kenya. Proof positive that America is the land of the free and home of the brave.
Blacks were brought to America as slaves (just like Indians in Malaysia). President Obamas father was born in Kenya, he himself is merely a first generation American on that side of this family. That’s like having a first Generation Malaysian from China becoming Prime Minister of Malaysia……never going to happen. In fact having a third generation Malaysian (like me) become Menteri Besar of Selangor is never going to happen either.
Once again, Awang is going to bring nonsense about American whites not being rightful owners of their land. Well a lot of ‘malays’ are not even third-generation Malaysians and some of them are sons of Indonesians….like Khir Toyo. The whites have been there probably as long as most Malays have been here, in fact longer. The whites moving in an displacing the Red-Indians is akin to the Bugis, Minangkabau and Parameswara himself coming here and displacing the orang asli …..though ours was a far more peaceful coexistence, than a slaugther.
Can you spot the odd one in the picture?

How about Bobby Jindal, Republican Governor of Louisiana. Louisiana is like the Terenganu of America, it’s a poor state that flushed to the brim with Oil.
Governor Piyush “Bobby” Jindal is the son of Punjabi Indian Agrawal parents, once again merely first generation American. Unlike Obama however, Bobby is first generation on BOTH his mother and fathers side.
Say what you want about America, but you can’t deny they give everyone a chance. Even first generation Americans…the same can’t be said about 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th,6th and 7th Generation Malaysians.
So Malaysia isn’t stacking too well isn’t it.
For every Cambonia, Myanmar, Ceylon and Vietnam that Awang can name … I can have a Singapore, America, Britain and Australia.
The question is, which group would you rather be lumped with? Third-world countries run by juntas, war-torn islands and corrupt governments or economically progressive states? You Choose.
Of course, the crux of it all, is can we really compare ourselves to America and Singapore. We have different histories.
Well much of the world is progressing past this idea of race. It has no place in the modern globalized world, we have to appreaciate our race and culture, but at the same time value our diversity and humanity, forgoing racial interest for national interest and human solidarity.
We end with the controversial figure of Alberto Fujimori, a Roman Catholic Japanese. There not many Roman Catholic Japanese…but then again there aren’t many Japanese in Peru either. Peru has a population size larger than Malaysia and the 90,000 Japanese there could squeze into Shah Alam Stadium. That’s one small minority.
Yet, this man Alberto Fujimori manage to wiggle his way to become President of Peru. Unlike Singapore (which has an Indian President), the President of Peru is the leader of the country.
To be honest, I had to reference my atlas to find Peru, I didn’t know where it was, yet this country somehow manage to elect a ‘kaum pendatang’ to become it’s leader. Think about that…this isn’t America or Singapore, this is a country I couldn’t find on a map, electing a ‘kaum pendatang’
So if Awang really wants to know where we can find better treatment of Malaysia, I’d have to say:
Well just about anywhere, but Peru would be perfect.
Finally, I’d just like to give a big large FUCK YOU to Awang Selamat.
Granted Alberto Fujimori, probably wasn’t the best choice in the world….but the fact that Peruvians elected him is reason enough to believe people can look past race and color and focus on the key issues.
Let’s hope Malaysian can one day look past race and color, and focus on National Interest rather than racial pride. If 1Malaysia is too succeed, it must first achieve this.
That’s my 2 cents. Don’t spend it all in one place.
